This exhibit is open throughout the month of February
Clarinda Richardson, a long-time Smith Family slave/sharecropper, corresponded with the Smiths after the war and even after Archibald Smith’s death. This exhibit will feature the letters surrounded by both the period history and family history to give a well-rounded understanding of the nature of the letters, their importance, and what it tells us about the Smiths and Clarinda. This exhibit’s aim is to give a voice to those who worked this land for so many years.
